The Rock Report - April 2007

As luck would have it, crescentrockbeach.org officially went on-line on
Friday the 13th of April 2007. Fortunately most naturists are not
triskaidekaphobic. Hopefully it will turn out to be a good omen for the
future of Crescent Rock Beach.

Sun unveiled the BNSF "Hit List" on April 15th by assembling a
trackside memorial to all of the people who had been injured or killed on
these tracks. White crosses with these peoples names were placed on the
debris pile from the Crescent Rock mudslide, and 9 orange t's were stuck in the mud representing the 9 previous train derailments that have happened along the unstable bluff.

While this media event was basically ignored by reporters, it was seen
by plenty of people walking the beach and the track and by the passengers of the Royal Hudson as it chugged on by in reverse from the White Rock station.

The next time someone is hit by the train along the peninsula's shores,
the hit list will be taken to the accident location and pounded in next to
the tracks. The media will be there for the accident, and they can properly
report this information at that time.

The hit list will also play an integral part in the upcoming Crescent
Rock Beach Day celebrations when SUN plans on mooning the Amtrak passenger train under the banner of "BNSF - Butt out of the Beach". The practice of running HAZMAT freight along this line when closed to Amtrak due to unsafe conditions will be exposed at this time.

The weather is slowly improving, and temperatures are on the rise.
There were even a few hardy souls at the beach enjoying the first few rays
of the year. When you consider that mid-April sun is equivalent to the
third week of August, if you can find a sheltered spot next to some
reflecting boulders, you might go home with a sunburn if you aren't too
careful. Keep the sunscreen handy for those sensitive spots that haven't
see a lot of sun in a while.
